Can I install the Ola camera by myself?

Yes. The Ola camera was designed for easy installation. It can be installed both indoors and outdoors. The mount can be magnetically attached to a metal surface or installed using the provided screws. You will need to ensure Wi-Fi coverage and an electrical outlet within distance of 9.5 ft. /2.8M. In outdoor installation, the electrical outlet should have weatherproof casing/cabinet, as the adapter itself is not weatherproof.

What tools do I need to install the Ola camera?

For fixed wall mount option, you will need a drill suitable for drilling holes for the screws. All other options do not require any additional tools.

Can I install my Ola camera outdoors?

Yes. Ola camera and its wall mount have an IP66 weatherproof rating. The camera can be installed outdoors and withstand heavy rain, wind, and snow. The provided power adapter is not weatherproof. This means that if you want to use an outdoor outlet, the adapter should be placed in a weatherproof casing/cabinet. Use the Ola camera only in temperatures between -40 °F to 122 °F (-40 ℃ to 50 ℃). Moon and Mars expeditions will require dedicated power outlets; please approach us for such a dedicated solution.

Do I need a power outlet near the Ola camera?

The provided cable is approximately 10 feet (3 meters) long. Therefore, it is recommended to place your Ola camera within 9.5 feet (2.8 m) of an electric outlet. To extend the range, you may use an extension cord (from the Ola adapter to the outlet). If you are plugging the power supply into an outdoor outlet (or to an extension cord), you will need to install a weatherproof casing/cabinet, as the adapter itself is not weatherproof.

How is the Ola camera powered?

Ola comes with a power supply that is compatible with any 100-240V electrical outlet.

Can I use a regular cable extender to extend the power cable?

If you would like to extend the range, you can use an extension cord to connect the adapter to the electric outlet. If you are plugging the power supply into an outdoor outlet (or to an extension cord), you will need to install a weatherproof casing/cabinet, as the adapter itself is not weatherproof.

Can I get a professional to install the Ola camera?

Although Ola does not require professional installation, you are welcome to have a professional (e.g. electrician, security systems technician/ installer etc.) install it for you.

Can I use a mobile internet connection?

Ola camera supports Wi-Fi connection. You can also use the Wi-Fi connection of an external mobile internet device, such as a mobile internet router, mobile hotspot etc.

Can I use a network cable to connect the Ola camera?

No, the Ola camera does not have an Ethernet port. It can only connect to the internet through a Wi-Fi connection. Please contact us for such dedicated solutions.

Can I install multiple cameras?

Yes. You can add as many Ola cameras as you want. You will be able to view and manage all connected cameras from a single Ola Camera app.

Can I position the Ola camera on the ceiling?

The preferred position for the Ola cam should be on a wall or a flat surface, 6.5ft/2m high.

How do I move the Ola camera to another room, house or location?

Moving the Ola camera around in the same house with the same Wi-Fi requires plugging it in/out and following the process of installation to install it in the desired area.
Moving the Ola camera to another room in the same house with a different Wi-Fi requires changing the Wi-Fi in the App settings and following the process from above.
If you are moving the Ola camera to a different location but wish to keep the existing data, it is only required to change the Wi-Fi in the settings.
Finally, if you are moving the Ola camera to a different location and do not wish to keep the existing data and profiles, remove the camera and reinstall it once it is in the new location.

How to install the camera using the Wall Mount?
You can use the Wall Mount to install the Ola camera indoors and outdoors. To setup the camera using the wall mount: Put the mount in the hole on the back of the camera body, turn the mount counter clockwise until it is securely fastened to the body. Hold the upper part of the mount and rotate the mount base in the direction opposite of “open”, remove the mount base from the upper part of the mount. Attach the wall sticker to a wall, 6.5ft (2m) high or use a pencil to mark three spots for screws. Drill three holes for the screw size 2.6×8. Insert the three anchors and attach the mount base using the screws. Put the upper part of the mount back, turn it clockwise, yet not too tight. Connect your camera to the Ola app, once you see video on your device, tilt the camera body to find the ideal angle (such that the full body, from head to feet is visible) The angles of view should be: Horizontal 130°, Vertical 66° and Diagonal 165°. Turn the upper part of the mount clockwise until it is securely fastened. For illustrations and detailed explanation, see the installation guide found in the box with the Ola camera. If the area is a metal surface, put the mount into the hole on the back of the camera body, turn it counter clockwise until it is securely fastened and attach the camera to a metal surface.
How to position the camera on a flat Surface?
The camera can be positioned as Desk Mount on a flat surface at a preferred height of 6.5ft (2m), 23ft (7m) opposite a wall. According to the height, adjust the camera’s angle by tilting the camera to include floor/ground and full human body, making sure the angle captures head and feet. The angles of view should be: Horizontal 130°, Vertical 66° and Diagonal 165°. For illustrations and detailed explanation, see the installation guide found in the box with the Ola camera.

Before installing the camera, you need to find a place 6.5ft/2m high on a wall, around 23ft/7m from the opposing wall. Use the camera’s live feed to find the desired angle of the camera. Try to capture the individual’s front/back (not the sides). For example, place it opposite the entrance to capture the people entering/exiting. Ensure Wi-Fi coverage. Ensure there is an electrical outlet within distance of 9.5 ft./2.8m. Avoid direct glare on the camera.

Adding your camera in the Ola App

  1. Connect your camera to power, wait 40 seconds to hear one beep, which means the Camera is turned on.
  2. Make sure that your mobile device’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on, and that your Wi-Fi is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you wish to connect your camera to.
  3. Register or Login to the Ola App using your login credentials.
  4. Click on the option “add camera” (In case you only want to change the Wi-Fi, click the option “change Wi-Fi” )
  5. Follow the instructions in the app.
  6. Do not disconnect your camera from power. It will take a few minutes for the camera to connect.

  • Make sure that you only use the provided power adapter from the camera box.
  • In case you are from EU, you will need to attach a two pin plug to the original power adapter.
  • Upon connecting your camera to power, wait 40 seconds for one beep. Once you hear the beep, the camera is on.
  • For security and subscription policy reasons, users cannot have two accounts linked to the same camera. Your camera can only be registered to one account. In order to register your camera to a different account, you will need to remove the camera from the existing account. Please note that removing your camera from the first account, will result in losing all subscription packages in your new account, and you will need to buy a new subscription package.

Does the Ola camera include a speaker?

The Ola camera features a built-in speaker that enables two-way communication through the Ola Camera app.

Does the Ola camera have a microphone?

Yes. The Ola camera has a microphone. This microphone is used to recognize situations even when the individual is not visible to the camera, such as a cry for help, a baby crying, etc.

Is the Ola camera waterproof?

Yes. The Ola camera and its wall mount have an IP66 weatherproof rating. The camera features a solid housing that provides complete protection against dust and powerful water jets. This means that it can be installed outdoors and withstand heavy rain, wind, and snow. The provided power adapter is not weatherproof. What is the video resolution?

How do I talk to a person my Ola camera sees?

This feature will be available in the future. When this feature is available, selecting the microphone icon on the video screen in the application will enable you to talk to the person in front of the camera.

How can I delete my camera’s history?

Removing the camera in the application will immediately result in deleting all the data.

Can I change the audio settings for the Ola camera?

You can change the audio sensitivity for features such as cry detection and call for help.

Can I narrow the field of view on my camera?

You can zoom in the video while in landscape mode.

Can the Ola camera work with Alexa or Google Assistant?

This feature will be enabled in the future.

How does the system know which searches to suggest?

The unique AI system of the Ola camera learns the rhythm of your life and people’s routines, therefore suggesting searches based on this and the searches you have already done.

Recognition
Can Ola recognize individuals from behind?

Ola is using body movements and other behavioral features to identify people for its internal analysis, in addition to face recognition. E.g. an older adult falling should require the system to be more sensitive than a young child who jumps, falls and gets up. Any such recognition is solely targeted to provide better safety and security while using Ola, and is not targeted to infringe privacy in any way. Hence, most of the recognition features are internal for domestic utilization, having the selected profiles being “shown” under >> settings>> people. The user has the option to link profiles generated by face and body movements to create recognition.

Can Ola recognize individuals wearing a hat?

Can Ola recognize situations based on audio (without seeing them)?

Yes. Ola camera is using a microphone to recognize situations even when the individual is not visible to the camera, such as a cry for help, a baby crying, and other distress situations.

How do I assign/change/merge names to people my camera recognizes?

In order to get an answer to a specific question about people, it is required to have named profiles in the Ola app. This can be done in 2 ways – by pressing the blue icon on the camera timeline, which will enable you to see clips and press on the white human icon which will give you an option “name people”. This way you can add a new name or link it to a known person. Another way of doing it is by pressing on “settings” >>”people” which will forward you to the “people” screen. By pressing on the icons of people, you will be able to merge, rename and link names/profiles.

Why do I need the Ola Camera app?

The Ola Camera app enables you to set up your Ola Camera. In addition, the Ola Camera app is used to view the live feed from the camera as well as to access Ola’s many advanced features, such as searching for specific events and receiving notifications of important events that occur, seeing the video clips and more.

What are the minimal requirements for the Ola app?

To successfully connect the Ola app to the Ola camera, you are required to be next to the camera. Android 5 (Lollipop) or later, must have BLE for setup. iPhone, iPod and iPad. iOS 9.0 or later, must have BLE for setup.

Do I need the Ola app to install the Ola camera?

Yes. The Ola Camera app is used to connect the Ola camera to the Wi-Fi network, as well as to view the live feed from the camera, access to Ola’s advanced features, such as searching for specific events and receiving notifications of important occurrences and more.

Does the Ola app run on Android devices?

How do I download and install the Ola app?

Ola Camera app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
During first time use, Ola Camera app prompts a setup process, which includes signing up as a user and adding a camera. To add a camera, you will need to specify the camera’s name/location, scan the camera’s QR code and enter your Wi-Fi password. *insert QR code*

How do I connect my camera to the Ola app?

During first time use, Ola Camera app prompts a setup process, which includes adding a camera by defining its name/location, scanning the camera’s QR code and entering the Wi-Fi password to connect the camera. If you have not added the camera during the setup process or you want to add another camera, follow the instructions in Adding a Camera.

Do I have the access to the stored recordings?

Choosing the free option enables you to have 3 hours of events recording. With our subscription plan 1 you can have up to 30 days of events recording, and with our subscription plan 2 you can have 60 days. Subscription plans also enable you to have access to many other existing features.

How to configure the Home/Away mode in the Ola app?

Ola collects personal and statistical information through Ola Apps and Site. The collected information allows us to provide Ola services to our users via Ola Apps and Site. What is included in the Warranty?

Ola offers a 12 month Warranty for the Ola camera, covering defects in workmanship or materials in the course of normal, proper, and intended usage. Ola’s obligation under the Warranty is to replace or repair any product or component determined by the Ola official distributor or via the Ola support agent to be covered by this warranty. The warranty does not cover damage caused by the customer’s use of the product or omission to use it properly.
