Can I install the Ola camera by myself?

Yes. The Ola camera was designed for easy installation. It can be installed both indoors and outdoors. The mount can be magnetically attached to a metal surface or installed using the provided screws. You will need to ensure Wi-Fi coverage and an electrical outlet within distance of 9.5 ft. /2.8M. In outdoor installation, the electrical outlet should have weatherproof casing/cabinet, as the adapter itself is not weatherproof.

What tools do I need to install the Ola camera?

For fixed wall mount option, you will need a drill suitable for drilling holes for the screws. All other options do not require any additional tools.

Can I install my Ola camera outdoors?

Yes. Ola camera and its wall mount have an IP66 weatherproof rating. The camera can be installed outdoors and withstand heavy rain, wind, and snow. The provided power adapter is not weatherproof. This means that if you want to use an outdoor outlet, the adapter should be placed in a weatherproof casing/cabinet. Use the Ola camera only in temperatures between -40 °F to 122 °F (-40 ℃ to 50 ℃). Moon and Mars expeditions will require dedicated power outlets; please approach us for such a dedicated solution.

Do I need a power outlet near the Ola camera?

The provided cable is approximately 10 feet (3 meters) long. Therefore, it is recommended to place your Ola camera within 9.5 feet (2.8 m) of an electric outlet. To extend the range, you may use an extension cord (from the Ola adapter to the outlet). If you are plugging the power supply into an outdoor outlet (or to an extension cord), you will need to install a weatherproof casing/cabinet, as the adapter itself is not weatherproof.

How is the Ola camera powered?

Ola comes with a power supply that is compatible with any 100-240V electrical outlet.

Can I use a regular cable extender to extend the power cable?

If you would like to extend the range, you can use an extension cord to connect the adapter to the electric outlet. If you are plugging the power supply into an outdoor outlet (or to an extension cord), you will need to install a weatherproof casing/cabinet, as the adapter itself is not weatherproof.

Can I get a professional to install the Ola camera?

Although Ola does not require professional installation, you are welcome to have a professional (e.g. electrician, security systems technician/ installer etc.) install it for you.

Can I use a mobile internet connection?

Ola camera supports Wi-Fi connection. You can also use the Wi-Fi connection of an external mobile internet device, such as a mobile internet router, mobile hotspot etc.

Can I use a network cable to connect the Ola camera?

No, the Ola camera does not have an Ethernet port. It can only connect to the internet through a Wi-Fi connection. Please contact us for such dedicated solutions.

Can I install multiple cameras?

Yes. You can add as many Ola cameras as you want. You will be able to view and manage all connected cameras from a single Ola Camera app.

Can I position the Ola camera on the ceiling?

The preferred position for the Ola cam should be on a wall or a flat surface, 6.5ft/2m high.

How do I move the Ola camera to another room, house or location?

Moving the Ola camera around in the same house with the same Wi-Fi requires plugging it in/out and following the process of installation to install it in the desired area.
Moving the Ola camera to another room in the same house with a different Wi-Fi requires changing the Wi-Fi in the App settings and following the process from above.
If you are moving the Ola camera to a different location but wish to keep the existing data, it is only required to change the Wi-Fi in the settings.
Finally, if you are moving the Ola camera to a different location and do not wish to keep the existing data and profiles, remove the camera and reinstall it once it is in the new location.

How to install the camera using the Wall Mount?
You can use the Wall Mount to install the Ola camera indoors and outdoors. To setup the camera using the wall mount: Put the mount in the hole on the back of the camera body, turn the mount counter clockwise until it is securely fastened to the body. Hold the upper part of the mount and rotate the mount base in the direction opposite of “open”, remove the mount base from the upper part of the mount. Attach the wall sticker to a wall, 6.5ft (2m) high or use a pencil to mark three spots for screws. Drill three holes for the screw size 2.6×8. Insert the three anchors and attach the mount base using the screws. Put the upper part of the mount back, turn it clockwise, yet not too tight. Connect your camera to the Ola app, once you see video on your device, tilt the camera body to find the ideal angle (such that the full body, from head to feet is visible) The angles of view should be: Horizontal 130°, Vertical 66° and Diagonal 165°. Turn the upper part of the mount clockwise until it is securely fastened. For illustrations and detailed explanation, see the installation guide found in the box with the Ola camera. If the area is a metal surface, put the mount into the hole on the back of the camera body, turn it counter clockwise until it is securely fastened and attach the camera to a metal surface.
How to position the camera on a flat Surface?
The camera can be positioned as Desk Mount on a flat surface at a preferred height of 6.5ft (2m), 23ft (7m) opposite a wall. According to the height, adjust the camera’s angle by tilting the camera to include floor/ground and full human body, making sure the angle captures head and feet. Try to capture the individual’s front/back (not the sides). For example, place it opposite the entrance to capture the people entering/exiting. Ensure Wi-Fi coverage. Ensure there is an electrical outlet within distance of 9.5 ft./2.8m. Avoid direct glare on the camera.
